Former India captain Virat Kohli is currently in Australia for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 which is scheduled to start from November 22. Team India are scheduled to play five Test match series against Australia as their last assignment for the World Test Championship cycle. Batting great Kohli is one of the key players for India in the Australia series considering his records. 

As per the Sydney Morning Herald, Modern-day great Kohli has undergone scans on a mystery injury just over a week out from the start of the first Test.

"The nature of Kohli’s injury is unclear, but a source with direct knowledge of the matter has confirmed the batting great did have scans" quoted SMH.

 

 

As per Sports Tak sources in Australia, Virat did undergo scans in Australia but he is fine and he batted during the match stimulation as well. 

Earlier, Sarfaraz Khan got injured during practice. He had an elbow injury. However, it is being said that he is completely fit. The team management has not got his scans done. Meanwhile, KL Rahul got injured during the match simulation on November 15. He too was hit by a ball near the elbow. After this, he had to leave the game. He came to alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Virat Kohli's lean patch in Tests

Virat Kohli is currently going through a lean patch in Tests. He is unable to score a single century in the year 2024. This year his runs have come at a modest average of 22.72. He scored a half-century in the Test series against New Zealand. But he was badly exposed in the Tests played in Pune and Mumbai. He was unable to cross the double-digit mark in four out of six innings against New Zealand.

36-year-old Kohli has been struggling in Test cricket since the beginning of the year 2020. During this time, he has been able to score runs at an average of 31.68 in 60 innings. He has been able to score a century only twice in this period. However, his record in Australia is good where he has scored 1352 runs at an average of 54.08, scoring six centuries. This will be Kohli's fifth Test series outing on Australian soil.
