Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 bound Indian Cricket Team is currently in Australia ahead of the upcoming five-Test match series scheduled to start from November 22. The Men in Blue started practising on Australian soil for the upcoming red-ball assignment. Team India are currently hitting the nets at WACA Stadium in Perth.

Team India travelled to Australia without captain Rohit Sharma as he is expecting his second child with wife Ritika Sajdeh. He has also started training in Mumbai but there are chances that he might miss the first Test. Indian management has outlined a strategy for the opening Test, with coach Gambhir confirming that Bumrah will captain the side in Rohit’s absence. He also identified Abhimanyu Easwaran and KL Rahul as the main options for the opening role.
This will be Rohit's first red-ball assignment as a captain. India will look for a win hattrick against Australia and if they manage to do so then they will become first Asian side to win three consecutive Test series on Australian soil.
The upcoming Test series will be important for India to confirm their berth for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final which is scheduled to take place in England next year. India needs to register a 4-0 win in the five Test match series to seal their spot for the WTC final for the third consecutive time.
Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 schedule
The opening Test match of the series between Australia and India will kick off in Perth, running from November 22 to 26. The teams will then move to Adelaide Oval for the second Test, a Day/Night game scheduled for December 6 to 10. Following that, the third Test is set for The Gabba in Brisbane, from December 14 to 18. The fourth match will be hosted at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26 to 30, and the series will conclude with the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, held from January 3 to 7.
