India need to win the remaining three Tests to get a direct entry into WTC final.

England climbed to the fifth spot with a massive win over England.

South Africa have a chance to dethrone Australia as well.

Defending champions Australia reclaimed the top spot on the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 points table with a resounding 10-wicket win over India in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval on December 8.

Rohit Sharma's India slipped to the third position below South Africa after their sixth loss in the current WTC cycle.

Meanwhile, Ben Stokes' England beat New Zealand by 323 runs in Wellington Test to occupy the fifth spot. England and New Zealand have been ruled out of WTC final contention. Both the teams have one Test each left in the current cycle.

On the other hand, more changes are expected in the points table as there are two days left in the second Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka. If South Africa win, they will occupy the top spot. If the Proteas lose, they will slip to the fourth position. Sri Lanka can climb to the third spot if they beat South Africa and level the series.

India need to win the remaining three Tests in order to qualify for their third consecutive WTC final. If India lose another Test in the series, there will have to depend on other teams to make it to the final.
