In another series of interesting events, East Delhi Riders claimed an impressive 36-run win over New Delhi Tigers in their Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday. Asked to defend a massive 193-run target after recording 192/7 in the first innings, the Riders were backed by useful knocks from Vansh Mehra, Arpit Rana, Mayank Rawat and Suryansh Raina.

Shocking incident in DPL

New Delhi Tigers made a solid start to the chase but lost their momentum as wickets began to tumble at regular intervals. They were reduced to 94/4 after 10.2 overs and never managed to regain control of the clash, eventually falling well short of the target.

However, the clash saw a shocking moment when Umpire Dharmesh Bharadwaj was struck on the side of his face during New Delhi Tigers' chase. The powerful straight drive off Ashish Meena's bowling. Thareja seemed stunned after the impact. According to a report, the umpire was later admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for further assessment.

Talking about the game, East Delhi Riders got off to a flying start as Vansh Mehra and Arpit Rana stitched together a 62-run opening stand in just 5.2 overs. Mehra struck 35 from 21 balls, while Rana scored only 33 off 22.

After the openers lost their wicket, Mayank Rawan and Suryansh Raina ensured East Delhi Riders did not lose momentum in the middle overs. Rawat played an attacking knock of 40 runs off 23 deliveries, hitting four sixes along the way, while Raina contributed a brisk 33 from 21 balls to help the Riders put up a challenging total. For New Delhi Tigers, Rishabh Sharma emerged as the best bowler with three wickets for 34 runs, while Laxman chipped in with figures of 2/31.
