This was Rahul's second hundred of the ongoing series. He had played a stunning knock of 137 in the first Test at Headingley and had helped the visitors massively in posting a big target of 371 for the hosts. However, despite his valiant efforts, the Three Lions went on to chase down the total on the final day of the match.

This was also Rahul's second century at the iconic Lord's stadium. He had previously scored a hundred at the venue back in 2021 when he had played a brilliant knock of 129 as India went on to script a famous victory by 151 runs. With his ton in the ongoing series, Rahul joined an elite list of visiting batters with the most hundreds at the historic venue.

However, Rahul wasn't able to go far after scoring a valiant hundred and was dismissed for exactly 100 runs by England spinner Shoaib Bashir, who took his first wicket of the inning. This left the visitors on 254/5 and it looked as if the hosts will take the rest of the wickets for cheap. But, a great knock of 72 from Ravindra Jadeja and decent cameos of 30 and 23 from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar respectively, got India to 387 runs, exactly the same total that the Three Lions had posted in their first innings.

The India batter has so far given fine performances with the bat in the first five innings of the Test series. With a total of 336 runs under his name, Rahul is among the top run-getters of the series so far and the Indian team will be hoping that he maintains this brilliant run of scores in the remaining matches as well.
