India vs England: Joe Root surpasses Sachin Tendulkar during fourth Test against India to reach this milestone

Joe Root surpassed Ricky Ponting to become the second-highest run-getter in the longest format of the game. Root reached this milestone during the fourth Test match against India at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester. 
 

Joe Root smashed his 38th Test century during the fourth Test match against England to surpass cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar. 
 

He joined Mahela Jayawardene and Jacques Kallis to top the tally of batters who smashed Test centuries on their home soil with 23 centuries.
 

Cricketing greats Ricky Ponting, Kumar Sangakkara and Sachin Tendulkar smashed 22 centuries on their respective home soil in their respective career. 
 

Joe Root also became the highest run-scoring batter against a country in international cricket, surpassing Ricky Ponting's old record of 2403 runs. 
 

Joe Root also surpassed Steve Smith to smash the most centuries against India in Tests. Root has 12 Test tons against England, and Smith has smashed 11 so far. 
 

Joe Root also surpassed Australia batter David Warner to score centuries at home in international cricket with 32 tons in England.
