Ravindra Jadeja leaves behind VVS Laxman for this record with gritty half-centuries in both innings of Lord's Test

Ravindra Jadeja played robust knocks of 72 and 61* in the first and second innings of the Lord's Test respectively. The all-rounder continued his fine form in the ongoing series against England and almost lead the Men in Blue in chasing down the target of 193 and scripting a fantastic victory at the iconic venue.  

The veteran all-rounder remained unbeaten on 61 from 181 deliveries in India's second innings, but failed to get his side over the finishing line as the Men in Blue got bundled out for 170, losing the match by 22 runs and falling behind in the five-match series 2-1.

Regardless of India's defeat, Jadeja continued his fine form with the bat in the series with 50-plus scores in both the innings at Lord's. He became the first Indian player since Vinoo Mankad to achieve the rare feat. The 36-year-old now has 327 runs under his name in six innings at an average of 109.00. He already has scored four half-centuries and will be looking to add to his tally as the series progresses.

With the two half-centuries against England at Lord's, Jadeja surpassed VVS Laxman and became the Indian player with the third-most fifty-plus scores in Tests while batting at the No.6 position or lower. Here is the full list -

Jadeja had also played brilliant knocks of 89 and 69* in the first and second innings of the Edgbaston Test respectively. Though he was only able to a single wicket in the match, he still played a key role towards the Men in Blue's massive 336-run victory through his stellar performances wioth the bat.

Jadeja's fabulous batting display at Lord's also saw him surpass 7,000 runs in international. The left-hand batter now has a total of 7,018 runs under his name in 361 international matches. For a player who bats in the lower-middle order, his average of 36.97 in the longest format is nothing short of brilliant.
