Vaibhav Suryavanshi's pyrotechnique continued in the England tour as he cracked a historic century for the India Under-19 team in the fourth match of the series. The 14-year-old scripted a World Record with his spellbinding hundred which came off in just 52 balls in the fourth match of the five-game series between England U-19 and India U-19, played in Worcester on Saturday, July 5. He shattered the existing record for the fastest century in Men's Youth ODIs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi notches up World Record with blistering century

Suryavanshi reached his hundred in a mere 52 deliveries, eclipsing the previous record of 53 balls held by Pakistan's Kamran Ghulam. During his explosive innings, the left-handed batsman hit an impressive ten boundaries and seven sixes.

The young lad from Bihar immediately signaled his attacking intentions upon arriving at the crease, leaving the England hosts struggling to find any way to contain his aggressive batting. Initially, Suryavanshi adopted a cautious approach, seemingly taking his time to familiarize himself with the playing conditions in Worcester. However, once he settled in and got his eye in, he unleashed a torrent of attacking shots, dispatching the ball to all corners of the ground with remarkable power and precision.India did face an early setback when Suryavanshi's opening partner, Ayush Mhatre, was dismissed for a score of 5 in the fourth over, caught off the bowling of James Minto. However, Suryavanshi then found a solid partner in Vihaan Malhotra. In this partnership, Suryavanshi took on the primary role of the aggressor, while Vihaan played a more supporting role, enjoying a fantastic view of the onslaught from the non-striker's end. Suryavanshi has been in exceptional form throughout the ongoing series. Prior to this record-breaking fourth ODI, the left-handed batsman had already registered impressive scores of 48, 45, and 86. After narrowly missing out on half-centuries in the first two matches, Suryavanshi reached the fifty-run mark in the third ODI, contributing significantly to the visitors securing a 2-1 lead in the series.
