India veteran batter Ajinkya Rahane lavished praise on Dhruv Jurel for doing wicketkeeping duties in the fourth Test match against England after vice-captain Rishabh Pant got injured while batting. Pant, who is among the highest run-getters in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, fractured his toe on the first day of the fourth Test match at Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester.
Rahane, who is currently in England, took his 'X' formerly known as Twitter to laud the young wicketkeeper and believes that he has done the toughest job.
"When you are sitting outside, when you are watching the game, and suddenly you have to come inside and do the wicket keeping, which I feel in England is the most toughest job. I thought he did that really well. He was really calm behind the wicket. He was composed. I thought his suggestions to the players, KL Rahul and also for the captain, Shubman Gill, were really amazing" said Rahane.

The fourth Test marked the second time in the ongoing series against England that Jurel was called upon to keep wickets. Earlier, during the third Test, Rishabh Pant sustained a finger injury while attempting to stop a delivery from Jasprit Bumrah. As a result of the injury, Pant had to leave the field, and Jurel stepped in as the wicketkeeper.
After the fourth Test match ended in a draw, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Pant has been ruled out of the series and Narayan Jagadeesan has been announced as his replacement. Considering Jurel's experience, he will most likely be seen featuring the the fifth Test. The fifth Test match will take place from July 31 to August 4 at The Oval in London.
