India's bowling attack has been under the scanner after they could not defend the 371-run target in the opening Test of the series at Headingley, Leeds. Many have criticised the bowling on final day of the Headingley pitch. Ahead of the second Test, there is question mark over Jasprit Bumrah's availability due to his workload. Meanwhile, two Indian pacers -- Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep -- waiting in the wings, have gone viral on social media after bowling coach pulled off a few WWE-like wrestling moves during practice session in Birmingham.
Arshdeep has revealed that this is Morkel's new way of declaring that their training session is over.
"Morne ne bola tha ki jaise hi tumhara session khatam ho jaaye, to main hamesha last move karunga, main tumhe pin out karunga aur uske baad koi practice nahi hogi (Morne had said that the moment our practice session ends, he will have a last move and he will pin me. Thereafter, there will be no practice),” said Arshdeep in a video posted by the BCCI on social media.
“Usne koi naya tareeka dhoonda hai din call off karne ka, aaj woh wahi karke dikha raha tha (He has found a new way to call off the day and he was just showing us that),” he added.
Arshdeep's first-class record
26-year-old Arshdeep is yet to make his Test debut. He has played 21 First-Class games so far and taken 66 wickets at an average of 30.37, including two five-wicket hauls. Former players have backed him to play second Test as he will provide variety to the bowling attack and can delivery wickets with the new ball.
Deep's underwhelming Test record
On the other hand, Deep has not played a Test since the MCG Test where he picked up a side strain which ruled him out of few Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 games as well. Deep did not play in the games against England Lions as well. So far, he has played seven Tests and taken 15 wickets at an average of 35.20. He is yet to take a fifer in the format on the international stage.
