Story Highlights:

Sunil Gavaskar was furious at the DRS call which saved Joe Root's stay at the crease

Jonathan Trott also supported Gavaskar's claim regarding the DRS decision

Legendary India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar wasn't a happy man and was critical of the ball-tracking technology after Joe Root survived a review from the Men in Blue and continued his stay on the crease. It all happened in the 38th over of India's innings where Mohammed Siraj's delivery hit the England batter on the pads but the umpire decided to signal it as not-out despite the a big appeal from Indian team.

However, the Men in Blue weren't satisfied with the decision and decided to use a review. The replays eventually showed that the ball had drifted quite a bit towards the leg-stump and thus, it was ruled as umpire's call. Following this, Gavaskar heavily criticized the technology, stating that the ball was clearly knocking the leg-stump off.

"You're saying it was going to kiss the leg stump? There's no way. It was knocking the leg stump off. The only good thing is that India have not lost the review," Gavaskar said on commentary.

Former England batter Jonathan Trott also agreed with Gavaskar's statement and said that he had thought that the ball will definitely hit the leg-stump.

"I am flabbergasted. Having looked at that replay, I thought it was crashing into the inside part of the leg stump. Watching it in real time, I couldn't believe it was missing," Trott added.

Sundar dismissed Root soon after the controversial DRS call

Root was eventually sent back to the dugout for 40 runs in the 42nd over by Washington Sundar. The 25-year-old spinner would prove to be a nightmare for the hosts, finishing the innings with figures of 4/22 as the visitors bundled out the Three Lions for just 193 runs. Both Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah picked up two scalps each while Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep also chipped in with a wicket each.

However, things didn't go smoothly for India as their batters stepped out to chase the target of 193. The Men in Blue ended up losing four wickets within the final session of the fourth day and finished off on 58/4. Though they still have some solid batters remaining, England also are in with a big chance of snatching victory from the Men in Blue as the match heads into the fifth day.
