'We should keep those things personal..: Rishabh Pant's massive take on Akash Deep's sister ahead of Lord's Test

India vice-captain Rishabh Pant revealed that he knew about Akash Deep's personal problems since the Indian Premier League (IPL), but he reckons that these things should be kept personal. Akash Deep represented Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)-led by Rishabh Pant- in the last edition of the tournament. 

The Bengal speedster who made his Test debut in Australia during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 rattled England's bowling in his outing in the second Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025. He returned figures of 4/88 and 6/99 in the two innings.

After India's dominating 336-run win against England, Akash Deep dedicated his performance on the fifth day to his sister, who he said is suffering from cancer. “My older sister is suffering from cancer for the last two months. Now she is stable. She will be very happy after all that she has gone through mentally and I dedicate this match to her. I want to see a smile on her face,” Deep said on Star Sports.

“This performance is for you. Whenever I picked the ball, only thoughts of my sister crossed my mind. I am with you. I want to see happiness on your face we are all together with you,” he further said. 

 

 

"I knew about Akash's personal problems since the IPL but I think we should keep those things personal" said Rishabh Pant ahead of third Test against England. 

 

The five-Test match series between India and England is currently tied 1-1 and the third Test match of the five-match series will take place from 10-14 July at Lord's Stadium in London.

On the other camp, England have announced their playing XI for the third Test and they have included speedster Jofra Archer after a long gap of four years. Archer's last Test outing came in February 2021 against India in Ahmedabad.
