Tension filled the air as India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was taken off the field during the first day of the Lord's Test. He failed to grasp the ball and also ended up hurting himself in the process as England picked up two runs off byes.
Pant looked to be in a lot of pain following the incident and thus, was taken off the field for medical attention. In his place, Dhruv Jurel kept the wickets for the visitors for the remaining overs of the day. Notably, he also ended up taking a good catch off Ravindra Jadeja's delivery to dismiss Ollie Pope for 44 runs.
As the first day came to a conclusion, India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was asked about Pant's finger injury in the post-day press-conference. However, the youngster didn't know anything about the injury and stated that he and the other players will get to know about it later on.
"To be honest, I just came out of the field and I do not know anything about it, but since I did not hear anything from anyone, we will get to know tomorrow morning before we go back," Reddy stated.
