The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has firmly shut down rumors regarding Rohit Sharma's international future, confirming that the veteran batsman will remain a core part of the national team after series-deciding third ODI against England at Lord's on July 17. Rumors had been circulating that the historic London venue would host Rohit's final appearance in Indian colors, but BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia quickly put an end to the talk.

Rohit to continue playing for India: BCCI on Hitman's retirement rumours
Speaking to PTI, Saikia clarified that the media chatter is entirely unfounded, stating that there have been absolutely no internal discussions about Rohit retiring after the Sunday clash. He reinforced that the opener remains an integral part of India's one-day setup and will continue to be selected as long as he fits into the team's long-term plans.
"I want to firmly assert that there has been no such discussion that Rohit will be playing his last match at Lord's. he will continue to represent the country as long as he is in the scheme of things," Saikia told PTI.
The intense speculation has been amplified by Rohit's recent dip in form, having registered low scores of 11 and 26 in the opening two games of the series. While the superstar opener has previously made it clear that he intends to play through to the 2027 ODI World Cup, his lean patch has added fuel to the retirement debate just as India and England head into the high-stakes series finale on July 19 at Lord's.
BCCI not happy with selectors'
Reportedly, the handling of the matter by chief selector Ajit Agarkar and head coach Gautam Gambhir did not sit well with the BCCI hierarchy. Following a marathon day of deliberations involving all major parties, the BCCI secretary stepped in with a public clarification. The resolution of the tense standoff was aided significantly by a powerful former BCCI official, who partnered with Saikia to navigate the legal and personal complexities of the dispute.
