Suryansh Shedge's wait for India debut came to an end in the second T20I against Ireland. Although, India faced a shameful loss in the game and lost the series by 2-0 but his dream of representing India at the biggest stage. Notably, he was picked as an injury replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy who was originally picked for India's tour of Ireland and England.

Suryansh Shedge reflects on his India debut
In a conversation with JioHotstar, the Mumbai all-rounder revealed that he received a video call from his Punjab Kings (PBKS) teammate Arshdeep Singh upon his selection for the Indian team. The premier India speedster congratulated him, the young all-rounder recalled it was a very emotional moment for him, as it was hard to process his feelings.

Shedge claims that the feeling of representing India at the international stage is too unreal, as it still feels like a dream, as it was totally unexpected for him to receive his maiden India cap.
“When my selection was confirmed, I received a video call from Arshdeep paaji. He congratulated me and shared his own experience of getting selected. I spoke to him for a while. It was a very emotional moment. It was really hard to process. Even now, it hasn’t fully sunk in yet. It still feels like a dream,"said Shedge.
How Suryansh Shedge performed in IPL 2026
The Batting all-rounder had an amazing debut campaign at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season for Punjab Kings (PBKS). The right-handed batter amassed 158 runs in just seven outings, while batting at lower-middle order at an average of 39.50 with a staggering strike rate of 175.56. He registered his best score of 57 off just 29 balls against Gujarat Titans (GT).
Shedge managed to smash nine boundaries and 12 sixes during his individual campaign, showing immense potential to become a big star in Indian cricket in the upcoming future. It will be interesting to see if he can show his skill for the Indian team in the T20I series against England. The first T20I against the Three Lions will take place on Wednesday July 1.
