Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made four changes to the playing XI as senior players returned to the fold after taking rest in the first T20I. In-form Deepak Hooda made way for Virat Kohli. Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja replaced Ishan Kishan, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel respectively.

Arshdeep made his T20I debut in the previous game and extracted swing with the new ball. On the other hand, Hooda has been exceptional in the top order. Skipper Rohit forgot the fourth change (Pant) in the side after losing the toss.

“We would have batted first. Looks like a good pitch, it has been used before for the Blast game. We just need to adjust quickly and adapt our game. We have four changes. Kohli, Jadeja, Bumrah are back, and we have one more change. These guys are one of the best teams in the world, so we want to challenge ourselves. We want to back our game in Southampton. We want to be fearless, but we need to play according to the situation. We know there will be some failures along the way,” Rohit said at the coin toss.

Hosts skipper Jos Buttler won the toss and opted to field first at Edgbaston, Birmingham, the same venue where India lost the rescheduled Test earlier this week. Buttler made two changes to the side as well. 34-year-old Richard Gleeson made his debut in place of tall fast bowler Reece Topley whereas David Willey replaced Tymal Mills.

“We are going to bowl first. Willey and Gleeson come in for Topley and Mills. Excited for him (Gleeson) to make his debut today. It's a great chance to bounce back, expect us to come back harder today. It's a fantastic ground, India get a great support here as well,” Buttler said after winning the toss.
