Notably, South Africa batted twice on the same day, and a total of 23 wickets fell on the opening day of the second Test. Another 10 wickets fell on Day 2 before India successfully chased down 79 to claim their first Test victory at the Newlands venue in their ninth tour of South Africa.

The 30-year-old reflected on his Test journey that commenced in 2018 at the Newlands venue, underlining the collective objective of establishing a formidable team and consistently taking wickets. The standout pacer underscored the successful transformation the team has undergone and their ability to maintain performance levels throughout the series. Bumrah concluded by expressing that if India had won the toss, they would have chosen to bat first, ultimately achieving the desired result.

“This ground will always hold a special place in my heart”, he said.

"Happy and a special venue to play here and do well. I kept it simple and got my rewards in the end. Our journey started from 2018. We wanted to build and take wickets. We have to be at it. The transition has been great," Bumrah said after winning the ‘Player of the Series’ award.

Bumrah, who played a crucial role in India's Cape Town victory with a six-wicket haul, received the ‘Player of the Series’ award. Despite the quick conclusion of the match, he recognised the special nature of the venue and expressed satisfaction in delivering a standout performance there.

"We are happy that we could sustain it in this series and got the win in the end. Yes, this was the shortest test that I have ever played in my life. This was rapid and was too quick to my liking as well. Even we would have batted first had we won the toss and in the end, we got the result we wanted," Bumrah added.
