Is rain going to affect result of IND vs SA Centurion Test on Day 5?

Indian Test team are on the verge of securing a victory in the first Test against South Africa. Virat Kohli’s men need six more wickets to register 1-0 lead in the three-match Test series at SuperSport Park in Centurion. 

 

In the second innings, wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant was the highest scorer (34). India captain Virat Kohli, struggling for runs, managed a to score a mere total 18 off 32 balls in the second innings. The visitors had set a target of 305 runs for the Proteas and the hosts seemed to be struggling at 94/4 with their captain Dean Elgar batting at 52.

 

Weather a concern

In a situation like this Indian team should have thought about their bowling only but sadly that is not the case in reality as the weather in Centurion could play spoilsport to India's probabilities of winning chances.

 

After the rain washed the Day 2 of the Test, the weather is expected to play a key factor again on the final day of the game as well. 

 

According to Accuweather, there's a 65 per cent chance of rain on Day 5 of the Test. If the reports are to be believed then two hours of rain is predicted o Day 5. Moreover, there's a 39 per cent chance of a thunderstorm as well. Thunderstorms are expected in afternoon, at around 2 pm local time. 

 

The day is expected to start on a sunny note but the clouds may hover around. As per Accuweather, chances of thunderstorm are high in the afternoon. 

 

Bowlers doing their job

In the second innings, Indian pacer Mohammed Shami got the first wicket with the new ball as once again, opener Aiden Markram was undone by a peach of a delivery. Markram got out after scoring just a single run. Keegan Petersen looked solid initially but Mohammed Siraj got an outside edge off his bat.

 

Van der Dussen was alert while leaving the ball or defending it right under his bat, Jasprit Bumrah dismissed him as the pacer angled the ball into the stumps. The right-handed batter faced 65 deliveries to score just 11 runs. 

 

Keshav Maharaj came in as the nightwatchman but he got knocked over by Bumrah off the last ball of the day by a yorker.
