Ahead of the 1st ODI against West Indies, India captain Rohit Sharma was quizzed about former skipper and maverick batter, Virat Kohli's lack of runs in overseas matches in the last five years. The Hitman reacted strongly to the question and affirmed that players don't pay heed to what is being said by people outside of the dressing room. Rohit said the main focus remains on winning a match or a series rather than the comments made by people outside the circle.

"I have answered this question multiple times. The outside noise, who has scored how much or has taken how many wickets or hasn't taken... People sitting outside, when they talk, they don't know what is happening inside," Rohit said.

"Inside talks remain inside and we want it to stay inside only. We don't look into all those things. For us, it is important how we win a match or a series. Our focus is on that instead of who is talking what. This is something that I have said a number of times and in future as well I will say this only," he added.

Kohli scored a magnificent hundred in the second Test match against West Indies. It was a momentous occasion for the former India captain as he was playing in his 500th international match for the country. Kohli marked the historic game with yet another century in red-ball cricket.

In 2023, Kohli has been one of India's best batters going by the amount of runs he has scored in both ODIs and Test cricket. The upcoming three-match ODI series against the Windes, which start on July 27, will provide yet another opportunity for the master batter to accumulate runs against a venomless bowling attack.
