Stylish batter Sanju Samson played a brief cameo in the 3rd ODI between India and West Indies. The right-handed elegant batter played some delightful shots in his innings of 51 runs off 41 balls. During his attractive knock, Samson smashed two fours and four sixes. The thing that was most impressive about Samson's innings was the intent with which he played right from the onset.

Former India wicketkeeper-batter and national selector, Saba Karim lauded Samson for staying ready whenever his number is called. Karim underlined that Samson's innings was refreshing to watch and the Rajasthan Royals captain displayed his capabilities.

"Sanju Samson is an enigma for me. He bats so well. He is a gifted player. Today, his innings was like a whiff of fresh air. He said that his intent was to go out and be aggressive. The way he handled the leg-spinner, who was looking quite good at that point in time, was so refreshing to watch. This is what Sanju Samson is capable of," Saba Karim told JioCinema.

Samson made his ODI debut for India in July 2021 but has played just 13 matches for the Men in Blue in the 50-over format. Chances have been far and few for the right-handed batter but Karim believes that Samson has proven himself to be a perfect team man whenever he has been presented with the opportunity to play for the country.

"Sanju Samson has not got a series of chances. He has got in only when your regular players have been rested. It's not been an easy journey so far. But the fact remains that Sanju is still raring to go," Karim continued.

"You send him at No.3, he is more than happy. You send him at No.4, he scores a fifty. You send him down the order.. he is always there as a perfect team man. This is a just reward for Samson's persistence to be in the reckoning in the ODI squad," he added.
