Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir has urged patience regarding Hardik Pandya’s return to 50-over cricket, revealing that the marquee all-rounder is not currently conditioned to send down a full 10-over spell. Emphasizing a cautious approach to managing the star's workload, Gambhir made it clear that the coaching staff will refrain from pushing Pandya back into the international fold prematurely until his physical durability is fully restored.

Pandya's history with injuries has long made his bowling workload a focal point for Indian team management. "Hardik Pandya cannot bowl 10 overs at the moment. We don't want to rush him into international cricket. When he is fit there is a possibility of both he and Nitish playing," Gautam Gambhir on Pandya's comeback.

Speaking in the wake of India’s 127-run thrashing of Afghanistan to seal a 3-0 T20I sweep, the head coach outlined a clear stance on Pandya’s comeback. Gambhir's remark has clearly ended the suspense over Pandya's absence from India's T20I and ODI squads for the upcoming series against West Indies, which is slated to kick off from September 27.

In a step toward, Pandya was selected for the India A squad ahead of their 50-over series against Australia A in Puducherry. However, his participation remains subject to a green light from the medical staff at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence, ensuring his physical condition is thoroughly vetted before he steps back onto the field.
