Sanju Samson departed for an 86-run knock in the run chase.

After Samson's wicket, Rajasthan Royals couldn't get near the target.

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is heading towards the end of league stage, the emotions are high whether it is the franchises’ fans or their co-owners. On May 8, once such incident was witnessed when Delhi Capitals (DC) co-owner and chairman Parth Jindal was seen chanting ‘Out-Out’ while Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson argued with the on-field umpire after the third umpire adjudged him out.

Shai Hope took Samson’s catch on the boundary in the 16th over. It was the prized wicket for Rishabh Pant-led side as the visiting captain was striking the ball well.

This is not the first time Jindal has been animated in the stands. Earlier this season, his wild celebrations when DC won went viral on social media.

Samson’s wicket turned out to be the turning point of the game. Shubham Dubey’s cameo was not enough whereas Rovman Powell failed to fire in the slog overs and RR managed to post 201/8, losing the match by 20 runs.

This was DC’s sixth win of the tournament. They climbed to the fifth spot on the IPL 2024 points table. They are behind Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad despite same number of points as their net run rate (NRR) is inferior.

Pant happy with another home win

Pant was ecstatic with the win that kept their playoffs chances alive. He also lauded left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav for an economical spell and two crucial wickets.

“In the back end, the way our fast bowlers nailed the yorkers was great. Lot of positive to take from each match, regardless of whether we win or loss. The thought was always there for Rovman and Dominic. We wanted to take that chance as always, thinking they'd have problems. As always, Kuldeep delivered. I think our score was close to par,” he said in the post-match presentation.

The wicketkeeper-batter also revealed why he brought the impact player Rasikh Dar Salam late into the game.

“I think with the Impact Player we wanted to see how things were going and delay the decision on the Impact Player as much as possible,” he said.
