Gujarat Titans registered their lowest IPL total.

Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals (DC) feasted on a nervy Gujarat Titans (GT) at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad to win by six wickets with 67 balls to spare. After bowling out GT for a paltry 89 in 17.3 overs, DC looked to finish the run chase early but lost a few wickets in the process. The big win helped them rise from the ninth position to sixth on the points table.

GT's early collapse

Earlier, Pant won the toss and opted to field first. Veteran Ishant Sharma got rid of GT skipper Shubman Gill with a slower one in his first over. Sai Sudharsan hit a couple of fours in Khaleel Ahmed's second over. Wriddhiman Saha struggled to rotate strike and got bowled for just two runs from 10 balls. Mukesh Kumar ended his stay at the crease. In the next over, Sudharsan was dismissed run out by Sumit Kumar's direct hit. Then Ishant spoiled David Miller's comeback as he departed for a single-digit score. After powerplay overs, GT were 30/4.

Rashid fights lost battle

In the ninth over, Tristan Stubbs was introduced into the attack. He got Abhinav Manohar and Shahrukh Khan stumped. Rashid Khan tried to push the scoring rate. In the 12th over, Rahul Tewatia was dismissed lbw by Axar Patel. Mohit Sharma faced too many dot deliveries and the pressure got to him. He scored just two runs from 14 balls and became Khaleel's only victim of the evening. Rashid hit a six off Kuldeep Yadav's final over. In the 18th over, Mukesh struck twice to bowl out DC for 89, their lowest-ever total. Rashid turned out to be the top run-scorer with 31 runs from 24 balls.

Cameo-filled run chase to boost NRR

In the run chase, Jake Fraser-McGurk hit a six first ball against Sandeep Warrier. He took on Spencer Johnson as well but couldn't continue. He departed for a 10-ball 20. In the next over, Warrier dismissed a fidgety Prithvi Shaw. Abhishek Porel was used as the impact player. He smashed Johnson for two fours. In the next over, Warrier was hit for two sixes and a four by Shai Hope. Porel hit a six as well before getting clean bowled. He scored 15 runs from seven balls. Gill introduced Rashid in the sixth over. Hope went for a reverse sweep but was caught by Mohit. He contributed with a 10-ball 19. Pant and Sumit Kumar did not let any more wickets fall. In the ninth over, DC got over the line.
