Robin Minz, who was bought by Gujarat Titans (GT) for Rs 3.60 crore in IPL 2024 auction, met with a horrible road accident on Saturday (March 2) right ahead of the IPL 2024, as reported by News 18. The 21-year-old Robin Minz, who joined the 2022 IPL champions following a competitive auction battle with teams like the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024 auction in Dubai's Coca-Cola Arena, is now being closely monitored.
Robin Minz meets with fatal road accident
The accident took place while the Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batsman was riding his Kawasaki superbike, during which he collided with another motorcycle, causing him to lose control. Minz's accident was confirmed by his father, Francis Minz, to News18, stating that the young player sustained only minor "bruises" and is presently under medical observation.

After the collision, the superbike's front section sustained significant damage, and the left-handed rider suffered bruises on his right knee. Minz had just returned home following his participation with Jharkhand in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy quarter-final against Karnataka. In the crucial knockout game, the young player scored an impressive 137, but despite his century, Karnataka advanced by securing the first-innings lead.
Robin Minz is perfectly alright: Father Francis Minz
However, in a conversation with Aaj Tak, Francis Minz, Robin's father, provided a big update on his son's accident and assured that the wicketkeeper is doing well now.
"Yesterday when he was on his way back home, his bike skidded and Robin had a narrow escape. Bike is bit damaged but Robin is alright," said Robin's father.
Notably, IPL 2024 is scheduled to start on March 22. The opening game will see the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, go head-to-head with Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium. The Gujarat Titans are slated to begin their season on Sunday (March 24), facing off against the Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Minz, who has not yet appeared in a first-class match for Jharkhand, holds the distinction of being the first tribal cricketer ever selected in an IPL auction. Recently, Gujarat Titans' new captain, Shubman Gill, encountered Minz's father at the Ranchi airport as he was departing the city following India's victory in the fourth Test of the current five-match series against England.
