Mumbai Indians (MI) players are in Jamnagar during the long break between their third and fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match. After three consecutive losses in the season under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, the players unwinded in Jamnagar, Gujarat as they engaged in water sports. They enjoyed live music as well before returning to Mumbai for their second home clash of the season.
In the video posted by MI, the players were seen riding the jet ski in the team's aqua adventure session. Rohit also spent time with his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira. Hardik and Rohit can be seen hugging each other during the session. Also, Jasprit Bumrah and Ishan Kishan posed during a photo shoot.
MI’s young South African recruit Kwena Maphaka revealed that his teammates tried to attack him in a playful manner while jet-skiing.
MI’s next clash and their season so far
Under-pressure MI will face Rishabh Pant's Delhi Capitals (DC) at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 7. While this is not the first time MI have lost their first three matches, Hardik’s leadership has been under the scanner since he took over the reins from Rohit.
In the previous clash against Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals (RR), Hardik was booed by the homecrowd as well. At the coin toss, broadcaster Sanjay Manjrekar intervened and asked the crowd to behave.
They suffered a batting collapse and Hardik was the top run-scorer for the home team. RR chased down the below par total easily.
Big boost for MI
Ahead of the match against DC, MI have received a big boost as Suryakumar Yadav has regained fitness. Suryakumar has been ruled out of cricketing action for months due to an ankle injury and sports hernia.
Suryakumar is the second-highest run-scorer for MI in the current squad. In the previous season, he scored 605 runs from 16 games at an average of 43.21. The 33-year-old scored one century and five half-centuries. Also, his strike rate was a stupendous 181.14.
