Rajat Patidar played a fluent knock of 52 runs off 23 balls against KKR.

RCB lost to KKR by one run in the 36th match of IPL.

Former Australia captain Aaron Finch slammed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Rajat Patidar after the clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He commented that Patidar should have been more cautious during the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Patidar batted aggressively and scored 52 runs off 23 balls, including three fours and five sixes. However, he lost his wicket to Andre Russel after misjudging a slower ball.

Patidar and Will Jacks, who also got out in the same over, had built a solid 102-run partnership after the early dismissals of Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis, which steadied RCB’s ship while chasing a target of 223. However, their dismissals allowed KKR to regain control and eventually win the match by one run.

Speaking on Star Sports, Finch added that Patidar should have continued batting for a couple of overs to ensure that two new batters didn’t get together at the crease.

"He had to make sure that he batted 2 to 3 overs deeper for RCB to have a batter who is in. Yes, we have seen some huge scores and we have seen guys walking out and trying to smack the ball out of the park from ball one. But there has to be a strategy behind it as well," Finch told Star Sports.

"You can't be walking out and throwing wickets away, particularly in batters. It's hard enough to get in, especially on a surface like that where the ball was holding enough and spinners were having an impact. Patidar needed to chill out for maybe 4 or 5 balls, get to the next over and then reassess. But you can't afford to have two in batters get out in the same over," he added.

With this loss, RCB continued to struggle in the season, remaining at the bottom of the standings with only two points from eight games. Now, RCB will next face Pat Cummins’ Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 25 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad.
