IPL 2024 Orange Cap: Riyan Parag edges out Sanju Samson to break into top five, Virat Kohli carefree on summit

Rajasthan Royals' (RR) batting sensation Riyan Parag has entered the Orange Cap race after scoring 48 runs in 34 balls against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their IPL 2024 clash on May 15, pushing Gujarat Titans' (GT) Sai Sudharsan to fifth place. However, despite Riyan's impressive batting RR lost the match to PBKS by five wickets. Sudharsan had previously scored a century against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 10, catapulting him into Orange Cap contention. Meanwhile, RR's captain Sanju Samson has dropped out of the top five after Riyan grabbed the fourth spot.

Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) Travis Head continues to hold the third position after his blistering 89 off 30 balls against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 8, boasting the highest strike rate of 201.89 among all batters. CSK's captain Ruturaj Gaikwad remains the second-highest scorer and retains his second spot. At the top, Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) Virat Kohli continues to wear the Orange Cap, having surpassed the 600-run mark this season.

Virat Kohli has been in outstanding form this season, accumulating 661 runs in 13 matches with an average of 66.10 and a strike rate of 155.16. He has hit five half-centuries and one century so far.

Ruturaj Gaikwad (CSK)
After a challenging start to the season, 27-year-old Ruturaj Gaikwad has found his rhythm, amassing 583 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 141.50, including four half-centuries and a century.

Travis Head (SRH)
Australian batter Travis Head has dominated this season with his aggressive batting, racking up 533 runs in 11 matches and achieving an impressive strike rate of 201.89. His tally includes four fifties and one century.

Riyan Parag (RR)
The young Assamese cricketer Riyan Parag has turned heads this season, scoring 531 runs in 13 matches with a strike rate of 152.58, after facing criticism in previous seasons.

Sai Sudharsan (GT)
22-year-old Sai Sudharsan from Tamil Nadu has led the run-scoring for his franchise, notching 527 runs in 12 matches with a strike rate of 141.28 this season.
