The 17th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicked off on March 22 and the competition has witnessed every team play at least one match thus far. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Punjab Kings (PBKS) have played two matches in the tournament so far. RCB tasted their first victory in their second match and got off the mark after losing their first game of the season. 

Meanwhile, teams like Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants have yet to open their account in the wins column. Let's delve into the current state of the IPL 2024 points table after the initial six matches.

Rajasthan Royals on top of the points table

The new season began with a thrilling match where Chennai Super Kings (CSK), under the captaincy of Ruturaj Gaikwad, secured a win against RCB at their home ground at Chepauk. The defending champions made a winning start to their season. Following this, Rajasthan Royals (RR) made a strong statement by defeating Delhi Capitals in their opening match, while Gujarat Titans, led by Shubman Gill, handed a defeat to Mumbai Indians. After the initial six matches of the competition, the Royals find themselves sitting pretty at the top of the points table.

The points table now sees RR leading the pack and CSK follows closely in second place. The Titans sit in third place with one win in as many matches played.

On the other end, Lucknow Super Giants, captained by KL Rahul, find themselves at the bottom of the table after losing their season opener. It is still early days in the competition and the points table is bound to see several fluctuations in the coming days.
