Head will play the cash-rich India Premier League after six years.

Star Australia batter Travis Head has arrived in India and linked up with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) training camp ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Meanwhile, other SRH players and staff members have already reached Hyderabad to kick off their preparations for the 17th season of the IPL at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium at Uppal.

The 30-year-old Head played a crucial role in the One Day International (ODI) World Cup last year and will play cash-rich league after six years.

Hyderabad-based franchise signed him for Rs 6.8 crores during the mini-auction in December last year. The franchise faced difficulties in finding a decisive and devastating opening batter since its separation from David Warner in 2021. They have pulled in Head in a bid to solve a long-standing issue.

The Sunrisers franchise uploaded a video of Head on Instagram to give fans a glimpse of him on his arrival and joining the team on March 17.

Looking forward to a good season: Head

"I am feeling good. Good to be back. Looking forward to a good season. The team looks good. Hopefully, I can contribute some runs," Head said.

He participated in the IPL in 2017 for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

"I heard amazing things about the Orange Army, looking forward to playing in front of everyone. We will try to win as many games as possible. Hopefully, we will have a successful season. Can't wait to play in front of the crowd," he added.

During the IPL 2024, the left-handed opener will play under his Australian captain Pat Cummins. Cummins replaced Aiden Markram, who led SRH in the 2023 IPL season.

SRH acquired Cummins for a whopping Rs. 20.50 crore in the IPL auctions in December last year, marking him the second most expensive player in IPL history.

SRH won IPL Title in 2016

SRH bagged the IPL title in 2016 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) when Australia opener David Warner captained the team. However, they ended up as runners-up against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2018 IPL season.
