Kohli blazes away but falls short of fifty

Virat Kohli, on a hot streak in IPL 2024, looked primed for another big knock against Chennai Super Kings.  He unleashed his aggressive batting style, scoring 47 runs off just 29 balls with a blistering strike rate of over 162.  His knock included a display of power hitting, with 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Kohli, along with Faf du Plessis, provided a solid opening partnership of 78 runs, putting the CSK bowlers under immense pressure.

However, his dismissal by Mitchell Santner in the 10th over just shy of a half-century left a gap in RCB's batting momentum. However, Faf Du Plessis steadied RCB's boat and played an impactful knock to help RCB post a big total of 218/5. Du Plessis led the charge, scoring a quickfire fifty in just 35 balls. He looked threatening and ready to dominate his former team, CSK. However, a brilliant fielding effort by Mitchell Santner ended his innings at 54 runs.

Despite Du Plessis' dismissal, RCB's batting momentum didn't falter. Rajat Patidar (41 off 23 balls) and Cameron Green (38 off 17 balls) stepped up with aggressive cameos, ensuring RCB continued to pile on the runs. This collective effort from the top order propelled RCB to a commanding total.

Later, CSK failed to chase down the big total and lost the match by 27 runs.
