Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo broke former Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Lasith Malinga to become leading wicket-taker in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. Bravo reached the summit with the wicket of Deepak Hooda in the 18th over of Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) run chase at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on March 31.

Before the clash against LSG, Bravo needed just one wicket to surpass Malinga on the list.

Bravo started the IPL 2022 season with a three-wicket haul against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the losing cause. The Caribbean all-rounder got the wicket of Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana and Sam Billings and conceded 20 runs from his overs but could not save the defending champions from a six-wicket loss.

Former Mumbai Indians (MI) star bowler Malinga has 170 wickets to his name from 122 games at an average of 19.79. While Bravo has played more games than Malinga, he has bowled just more than 20 overs in comparison. Also, the Caribbean all-rounder is yet to take a fifer in the league.

The 38-year-old all-rounder is also the highest wicket-taker in T20 cricket overall. From 523 T20 games, Bravo has taken 575 wickets at an average of 24.08 including 11 four-fers and two five-wicket hauls. He has bowled over 10,000 deliveries in the fast-paced format. He is 124 wickets ahead of the second-placed South African leg-spinner Imran Tahir.
