The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is alive and kicking. A total of 61 matches have been played so far in IPL 2023 while the franchises involved have provided immense entertainment to their loyal supporters. After more than a month of action in the cash-rich tournament, all the teams are gearing up for the business end of the competition. Defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) made a mockery of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 15 (Monday) and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

When it comes to the race for Purple Cap, two Gujarat Titans bowlers - Mohammed Shami and Rashid Khan - are tied at the top with 23 wickets each.

1. Mohammed Shami: Gujarat Titans' right-arm fast bowler has 23 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 16.70.

2. Rashid Khan: Gujarat Titans' leg-spinner has 23 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 18.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal: Rajasthan Royals' leg-spinner has accounted for 21 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 18.74.

4. Piyush Chawla: Mumbai Indians' leg-spinner has bagged 19 wickets in 12 matches with an average of 18.79 with the ball.

5. Varun Chakaravarthy: Kolkata Knight Riders' mystery spinner jumped to fifth place after taking his tally to 19 wickets in 13 matches.

6. Tushar Deshpande: CSK's right-arm pacer has 19 wickets in 13 matches. The young pacer has an average of 23.11.

7. Mohit Sharma: Gujarat Titans medium pacer has bagged 17 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 13.53

8. Ravindra Jadeja: The left-arm spinner has 16 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 20.31.
