Mumbai Indians (MI) Suryakumar Yadav played a sluggish knock of 28 runs from 26 balls in the unsuccessful run chase against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Despite ending up on losing cause at Wankhede Stadium, Suryakumar took the second spot in the orange cap race. He missed out on taking the orange cap from Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Nicholas Pooran by three runs. 

There were three new additions to the top 10. RCB's Virat Kohli and captain Rajat Patidar took the sixth and seventh spot with their respective half-centuries. Kohli scored 67 runs from 42 balls, including eight fours and a couple of sixes. He lost his wicket to MI captain Hardik Pandya. Patidar smashed five fours and four sixes in his blazing 32-ball 64. He lost his wicket to Trent Boult in the penultimate over of the innings. 

MI's Tilak Varma struggled in the run chase against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and was later subbed out. But, in the match against RCB, he kept the run chase alive. Batting at no.5, he scored 56 runs from 29 balls including four fours and as many sixes. He lost his wicket to Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the 18th over. Varma is 10th on the list of top run-scorers in the season.

Major shuffle on cards

On April 8, wholesale changes are expected as it is a double-header Tuesday. In the first match, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) go up against LSG. No KKR batter is in top 10 but LSG have two batters in top five. Pooran will have a chance to extend his lead over other teams. LSG opener Mitchell Marsh can move up from the fourth spot even if he registers a cameo.

In the second match of the day, Punjab Kings (PBKS) lock horns with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at home. PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer is eighth on the list and can easily jump several places. Meanwhile, CSK don't have a batter in top 10. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad is their top-scorer with 121 runs from four innings.
