Rishabh Pant is likley set to be named the Lucknow Super Giants' IPL 2025 captain. Pant was acquired by LSG for an incredible INR 27 crore, making him the most expensive purchase in IPL history. In addition to leading Lucknow for the previous three seasons, KL Rahul guided the team to the IPL playoffs in the first two seasons. However, LSG decided not to keep Rahul, and the 32-year-old Indian batsman was acquired by the Delhi Capitals, who may replace Pant as captain in a same manner.
Lucknow were involved in a tough bidding war with Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL 2025 mega auction and originally coughed up a startling 20.75 crore. But Delhi had the right to match card and LSG claimed 27 crore as their final price to acquire the 27-year-old.

According to IANS, the team also included players like Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran as potential captains. Justin Langer has been named the IPL team's head coach, and Zaheer Khan has been named the mentor for the forthcoming IPL season.
