It seems that Sanju Samson and Heinrich Klaasen have reached a settlement after having a heated exchange in Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clash in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season, which took place on Monday, May 18 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The heated moment took place after star CSK player Sanju Samson stumped Heinrich Klaasen off Noor Ahmad's delivery on a personal score of 47 runs off 26 balls. Despite Klaasen's dismissal, SRH managed to secure a win by five wickets while chasing 181 runs.
All is well between Sanju Samson and Heinrich Klaasen
Before walking back, Klaasen had an exchange with Samson, who performed a lightning stumping to give a strong breakthrough to the five-time IPL champions in the key clash.
Although, it was an unusual reaction from Sanju Samson, as he is someone who stays calm and composed on the field. After the incident, fans were wondering what would have happened between the two star players. However, it seems that both Sanju and Klaasen have reached peace after their altercation.
Sanju shared a picture on his Instagram story, where he can be seen sharing a warm hug with Klaasen, and ended the heat between the two with a wonderful caption.
“Things happen on the field but lots of love and respect to this gem of a person off it," wrote Sanju.
In response, Klaasen reshared the story with a sweet response, as the South African batter expressed respect towards the star Indian wicketkeeper batter.
“Much love and respect for you, bud. Always love watching you play. Keep doing your thing. We are all good. Looking forward to our next battle," wrote Klaasen.
Are CSK alive in playoffs race?
Despite the five-wicket defeat, CSK are alive in the playoffs race. Their next match is against Gujarat Titans (GT) away from home on May 21. In order to make it to the playoffs, they would not only have to win against GT but hope that other games go in their favour as well. Even if they beat GT, they can face competition for the fourth playoffs spot from Punjab Kings (PBKS), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and even Delhi Capitals (DC).
