Bangladesh left-arm spinner Taijul Islam created history in Test cricket during the only Test against Ireland at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Islam dismissed Ireland middle-order Peter Moor to become the first bowler to dismiss same player representing two countries in Test cricket.

32-year-old Moor had played for Zimbabwe before joining the Ireland national side. The Harare-born batter was dismissed on Day 1 of the only Test. He gave an easy catch to mid-off player Tamim Iqbal. In 2018 during Zimbabwe's tour of Bangladesh, Moor was dismissed for a golden duck at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in November 2018.

Interestingly, Islam got a fifer in both Tests. In the ongoing Test, the 31-year-old took five wickets for 58 runs to help hosts dismiss Ireland for 214 in the first innings on Day 1.

This was Islam’s 11th fifer in Test cricket. His fifer included Ireland skipper Andy Balbirnie, Curtis Campher, Moor, Lorcan Tucker and Mark Adair. Mushfiqur Rahim's 126, Shakib's 87 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz's 55 helped Bangladesh score 369 and take a 155-run lead.

In the second innings, he opened the bowling alongside skipper Shakib Al Hasan. He got the wickets of opener Murray Cummins and Balbirnie. Ireland are in deep trouble as they lost four wickets for 27 runs and still trail by 128 runs on a pitch that favours spinners.

Moor’s numbers for Zimbabwe

Moor has represented Zimbabwe in eight Tests. He has scored 533 runs from 18 innings at an average of 35.53 including five half-centuries. He played his last Test for Zimbabwe against Bangladesh in November 2018. He represented Zimbabwe in T20I and ODI formats till 2019.

Moor played 49 ODIs for Zimbabwe and scored 827 runs at an unimpressive average of 20.67 including four half-centuries. In T20Is, his record is better with 364 runs from 19 innings at an average of 24.26 including one half-century. His strike rate was a decent 127.27.
