'Absolute delight for Sarfaraz Khan': West Indies great hails India batter for his maiden Test ton in 1st Test against New Zealand

West Indies great Ian Bishop lavished praise on India batter Sarfaraz Khan on his maiden Test ton during the first Test match against New Zealand at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Sarfaraz who came into India's playing XI after Shubman Gill got out due to a slight niggle in the neck. Sarfaraz got out on a duck in the first innings where the Rohit Sharma-led side bundled out on 46 runs. 

Bishop took his 'X' (formerly known as Twitter) to hail India batter for his maiden century in the longest format of the game. 

"Absolute delight for Sarfaraz Khan. Loved the way his teammates seemed to enjoy that first test century for him as much as he did. Never gave up and kept working" posted Bishop. 

 

Sarfaraz reached the 100-run mark in the 57th over on Day 4. He punched the ball on the back foot for a four to reach his maiden international ton. As Sarfaraz reached his maiden Test century, he took off his helmet and celebrated the milestone. India's dressing room stood up and applauded Sarfaraz’s century. Sarfaraz made his Test debut against England on February 15. This was Sarfaraz's fourth Test outing. 

Pant who was injured while keeping wickets during Day 2 of the ongoing Test match during Jadeja's over has also smashed his 13th half-century in the longest format of the game. 

Coming back to the match, Sarfaraz Khan is unbeaten on 125 runs Rishabh Pant is unbeaten on 53 and India needs 12 runs to equal the score. Pant and Sarfaraz's stand has crossed the 100 runs mark. The play has been stopped due to rain at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
