India faced a 25-run defeat against New Zealand in the third and final Test in Mumbai, resulting in a 0-3 series loss—India's first home Test whitewash since South Africa's 2-0 victory in the 1999-2000 season. This marks the first time India has been swept 0-3 in a home series.
This defeat adds to India’s tally of five losses in the current World Test Championship cycle, leading to a significant drop in their points percentage (PCT) from 62.82 to 58.33.
As a result, India has fallen to second place in the standings, while reigning champions Australia have reclaimed the top spot with a PCT of 62.50. Team India are currently preparing for their upcoming Test assignment which is Border-Gavaskar Trophy and to qualify for the WTC Final the Men in Blue need to win 4-0 in five Test match series.
