Sarfaraz Khan played four Test matches for India where he scored 200 runs with a highest score of 68. This was his fifth Test outing.
Former India captain Kohli gambled with his batting position, he came to bat at number three after Rohit's wicket. This is the first time since 2016 that Virat came to bat at number three in the longest format of the game.
Earlier, after day 1 washed out due to rain, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat on Day 2. The Indian captain revealed that the management has made two changes in the team. Shubman Gill was rested because of neck stiffness and Kuldeep Yadav came in place of Akash Deep.
India have played 63 Test matches against each other where the Men in Blue holds the edge by winning 22 matches. Blackcaps won 13 Test matches against India. 27 matches between India and New Zealand ended as a draw.
