Story Highlights:

Ayush Badoni has been named Washington Sundar's replacement for the ODI series against New Zealand.

Badoni made his IPL debut in 2022 when Gautam Gambhir was LSG's mentor.

India’s spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out of the remainder of the three-ODI series against New Zealand due to a rib injury, confirmed the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on January 12. Sundar sustained the injury in the series opener in Vadodara. He walked out to bat and showed signs of discomfort, walking between the wickets in the run chase. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has handed Delhi all-rounder Ayush Badoni his maiden call-up.

“India all-rounder Washington Sundar reported an acute onset discomfort in his left lower rib area while bowling during the first ODI against New Zealand at the BCA Stadium, Vadodara, on Sunday. He will undergo further scans, following which the BCCI Medical Team will seek expert opinion,” the BCCI said in a statement.
