In the 22nd match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL), Quetta Gladiators registered a convincing four-wicket win against Karachi Kings at Pindi Club Ground in Rawalpindi on March 06 (Monday). Out-of-favour New Zealand opening batter Martin Guptill rolled back the clock and played an outstanding knock and rolled out Quetta's road to victory.

Chasing a tricky target of 165 runs, Quetta kept losing wickets at one end while Guptill displayed his experience and continued to keep his team in the run chase by doing his job to perfection. Quetta was tottering at 63/5 at one stage when Guptill combined with skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed (29 runs off 25 balls) for a 95-run partnership for the sixth wicket. The Kiwi swashbuckling batter remained unbeaten on 86 runs off 56 balls. In his match-winning knock, the right-handed explosive batter smashed nine fours and five sixes.

For Karachi, Tabraiz Shamsi bagged two wickets while Muhammad Musa, Aamer Yamin and James Fuller chipped in with a wicket each.

After being asked to bat first, Karachi suffered the worst possible start. Opening batter Matthew Wade departed for a golden duck on the first ball of the match. Karachi kept losing wickets before Adam Rossington and captain Imad Wasim combined for a 46-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Rossington scored a half-century (69 runs off 45 balls) while Imad was dismissed for 30 runs off 20 balls. Aamer Yamin (23 runs off 11 balls) played a handy cameo and pushed Krachi's total to 164/6 in 20 overs.

For Quetta, Naseem Shah and Aimal Khan bagged two wickets while Mohammad Nawaz and Naveen0ul-Haq chipped in with a wicket each.

Despite registering a win, Quetta continues to be at the bottom of the points table with just two wins in eight games. Karachi are just one spot above Quetta with two wins and nine matches.
