Pakistan spinner Sajid Khan picked up his maiden five-wicket haul in Tests as the right-arm off-spinner ended the Day 4 with an impressive figure of 6/35 against Bangladesh in the second match of the two-match Test series before the day's play was stopped due to bad light.
Pakistan skipper Babar Azam declared their innings on Day 4 when they were 300/4. Skipper Azam scored 76 off just 126 deliveries. Other batsmen like Azhar Ali (56), Fawad Alam (50) and Mohammad Rizwan (53) notched half-centuries.
Bangladesh faced an early blow as Sajid picked up opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy’s (0) wicket. Next to depart was Shadman Islam. The opener was surprised by extra bounce extracted off a length ball. Shadman went on to play a shot but failed to play it confidently and ended up gifting an easy catch to Hasan Ali standing at point.
Bangladesh middle-order failed to provide a concrete response as two indecisive shots from Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das resulted in two more wickets for the 28-year-old Sajid.
Bangladesh batsman Najmul Hossain Shanto looked solid initially but could only manage to score 30. Najmul failed to read Sajid’s delivery and the ball hit the back of his pad. Bangladesh did take a review in order to reverse umpire’s decision but the replays showed that the ball was hitting the stumps as Sajid completed his five-wicket haul.
Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz was the last to depart on Day 4 as he went back to the pavilion without scoring a single run. Mehidy tried to play a shot through the onside but Sajid’s ball turned back and took the off-stump.
Babar's first international over
On Day 4 Pakistan bowled only one over of pace (Shaheen Shah Afridi) as the rest of the overs were bowled by Sajid, Nauman Ali and Babar Azam. Interestingly, this was Babar's first-ever over bowled in international cricket. He gave just a single from the over.
