Mohammed Shami's stats in T20I cricket ahead of potential return against England

Mohammed Shami was left out of India's opening match against England in the five-match T20I series on Wednesday, January 22. The senior speedster's eagerly anticipated comeback was delayed aftrer he was unexpectedly left off of the starting lineup.

Mohammed Shami gave it his all in the training sessions before the first game of the series. On the eve of the series opener, the 34-year-old was seen bowling with his knees strapped.

Shami was selected for both the Champions Trophy and the five-match T20I series in England. With the series against England beginning on February 19, it was anticipated that the pacer will get match experience for the main 50-over tournament.

However, star pacer Arshdeep Singh assured everyone that Mohammed Shami was fit and ther are no fresh injury concerns after the first T20I.

Shami is in the team for the Champions Trophy even though he did not play in the opening T20I match against England. The pace attack is in jeopardy, though, as Mohammed Siraj is not included in the squad and Jasprit Bumrah's fitness concern is also there.
 

Maby senior cricketers backed the decision of Indian team management to rest Mohammed Shami in the opening game. However, it is yet not sure if the player will feature in the next game or not.

Mohammed Shami has played 23 T20I matches for Team India and has 24 wickets in them. His best performance in the format is 3/15. He last played in a T20I match back in Novemeber 2022 against England in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final.
