Shoaib Bashir scripts history, becomes youngest England bowler to bag this special feat in Tests

Star spinner Shoaib Bashir made history by becoming the youngest bowler to achieve 50 Test wickets for England On Friday, May 23.

The right-arm spinner Shoaib Bashir clocked this historic milestone on Day 2 of the ongoing four-day Test match between England and Zimbabwe, which is being played at Trent Bridge, Nottingham.

Bashir reached his 50-wicket milestone by dismissing Zimbabwe captain Craig Ervine in the 21st over. Earlier, Sam Cook provided England with their first breakthrough, getting Ben Curran out for just 6 runs. Ervine and Brian Bennett then consolidated the innings with a partnership exceeding fifty runs.

However, before the pair could establish a strong position for Zimbabwe, Shoaib Bashir broke the partnership by dismissing Ervine for 42 runs. This wicket marked Bashir's 50th in Test cricket, achieved in his 16th Test match at the age of 21 years and 222 days.
 

The previous record was held by former England fast bowler Steven Finn. Finn played in 36 Tests for England, taking a total of 125 wickets.

Shoaib Bashir made his Test debut last year at the age of 20, during the Vishakhapatnam Test match against India. He impressed by taking four wickets on his debut, and then followed it up with his first five-wicket haul in the very next Test in Ranchi.
