Tamil Nadu batsmen Baba Indrajith and Baba Aparajith made history on February 24 (Thursday) as they became first set of Indian twins to notch centuries in a same match (Group H) against Chhattisgarh, for the same team in First-Class cricket.

In the last match against Delhi, Indrajith had also scored a century (117 runs off 149 balls) but his brother Aparajith could not do much in the last match as he was out without scoring a single run.

Two centuries

In the Ranji Trophy match against Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu had to endure a horrible start as they lost their two opening batters scoring just 59 runs. But Indrajith and Aparajith eventually registered a solid partnership of 205 runs for third wicket to help their side in avoiding the early danger.

For Chhattisgarh, their left-arm bowler Ajay Mandal provided a crucial breakthrough as he dismissed Baba Indrajith (127 runs off 141 balls) in the 71st over of the innings. Indrajith’s innings was comprised of 21 boundaries.

"Batting with each other has always been fun right from the time we took up the sport as kids. We root for each other always. While the last time we scored hundreds in a match- it was for different teams- but doing so in the same match and that too for Tamil Nadu is a truly special feeling altogether," Indrajith was quoted while talking to Times of India.

"He was striking the ball so fluently and I didn't want to do anything silly. With the wicket on the slower side, the idea was to settle down before playing my shots," Aparajith explained.

Aparajith on the other hand, carried on his superb batting as he was batting at 144, till the lunch break.

Shahrukh shines

For Tamil Nadu, their another star cricketer Shahrukh Khan played a brilliant innings as he scored 69 runs off 105 balls. His innings was comprised of 8 boundaries and 2 sixes. In the previous match, against Delhi, Shahrukh played a terrific knock to score 89-ball century.

Till the lunch break on Day 2, Tamil Nadu reached a huge total of 417 runs losing 6 wickets.

For Chhattisgarh, their bowlers- Mandal and Shashank Singh picked up two wickets each.
