Rahul Dravid clarified that there was no disciplinary action against Ishan Kishan.

This clarification came amidst rumors of discontent within the board regarding Kishan's actions post the South Africa series.

Following Indian head coach Rahul Dravid's statement about Ishan Kishan's need to participate in domestic cricket for reselection, it has been revealed that Kishan has yet to communicate his availability for the current Ranji Trophy season to the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA). Kishan had opted out of the Test series in South Africa citing personal reasons, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The decision to take a break was attributed to mental exhaustion following an intense schedule, including significant contributions in the series against Australia right after the ODI World Cup.

Despite being a part of the squad, Kishan didn't feature in the T20I series against South Africa. His absence became a topic of discussion, especially after his notable performances against Australia, where he scored two vital fifties. Post his South Africa stint, Kishan traveled to Dubai, leading to speculation about his commitment. This raised questions among some board members and was believed to be a reason behind his exclusion from the T20I series against Afghanistan.

Debasish Chakraborty, the secretary of JSCA, emphasized that Kishan would be immediately included in Jharkhand's playing XI once he declares his availability. He underscored that Kishan is a valued member of the team and his presence would significantly bolster the squad.

"No, Ishan hasn't contacted us or told us anything about his availability. Whenever he tells us, he will walk into the playing XI," Debasis said, as quoted by PTI.

In contrast, Dravid clarified that there was no disciplinary action against Kishan, stating the player hadn't made himself available for the Afghanistan T20I series. This clarification came amidst rumors of discontent within the board regarding Kishan's actions post the South Africa series.

"Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan requested for a break, which we agreed in South Africa. We supported it. He has not yet made himself available. I don't think he has made himself available as yet. When he is available, he will play domestic cricket and make himself available for selection," Dravid had said.
