Returning from injury, Prithvi Shaw whacked a stunning ton in Mumbai vs Chhatisgarh match.

Mumbai's Prithvi Shaw announced his comeback with a lightning century against Chhatisgarh in the Ranji Trophy match at Raipur’s Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium on February 9. Shaw had been sidelined from competitive cricket for several months due to a knee injury sustained during his stint with Northamptonshire last year. The Mumbaikar underwent knee surgery followed by an extensive recovery period.

In his first match back from injury against Bengal, Shaw had a modest outing, scoring only 35 runs off 42 balls, despite Mumbai securing victory by an innings and four runs.

However, Shaw made a resounding statement in his second innings by notching up a magnificent century in the Ranji Trophy encounter.

The 24-year-old amassed 159 runs from 185 deliveries, which included an impressive tally of 18 fours and three sixes. Vishvash Malik managed to dismiss him eventually, but by then, Shaw had inflicted significant damage on Chhattisgarh.

Shaw's Remarkable Cricketing Comeback Post-Injury

Teaming up with Bhupen Lalwani, Shaw orchestrated a formidable 244-run opening partnership, leading Mumbai to a decisive victory over Chhattisgarh.

The 24-year-old cricketer has already faced setbacks, missing out on participation in two white-ball domestic tournaments: the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Prior to his injury, Shaw's batting performances were a mixed bag. While he showcased brilliance by accumulating 595 runs in 10 innings during the previous Ranji Trophy season, including a staggering 379 runs off 383 balls against Assam, his inconsistency raised concerns. This inconsistency became apparent even in the IPL.

Shaw had been in sublime form during his stint with the English county, amassing 429 runs across four innings, notably achieving a record-breaking 244 off 153 balls against Somerset. Unfortunately, his tenure was cut short due to a knee injury sustained while fielding against Durham.
