Former India captain Rohit Sharma has been crowned no.1 ODI batter for the second time in his career. As New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell slipped one place for not playing two ODIs against West Indies due to injury, Rohit regained the top spot ahead of the three-ODI series against South Africa at home.
List of top 10 batters in ICC ODI rantings
Rohit has 781 rating points compared to Kiwi batter Mitchell who has 766. The third spot is taken by Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran (764). India's injured ODI captain Shubman Gill takes the fourth spot (745), followed by teammate Virat Kohli. Pakistan's Babar Azam (722) occupies the sixth spot, followed by Ireland's Harry Tector (708). West Indies ODI captain Shai Hope (701) moved up two spots, surpassing an injured Shreyas Iyer (700) and Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka (690).
32-year-old Hope was rewarded for his unbeaten century in a rain-curtailed affair. He broke several records with that century.
Big gain for Conway
Outside top 10, Rachin Ravindra moved up one spot to 11th after scoring 74 runs from three-ODI series, including a fifty. He moved past South Africa's wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock.
Veteran Kiwi opener Devon Conway made a big jump after scoring 150 runs from the series including a 90-run knock in the run chase. Conway has moved up 11 spots to take 31st position.
Kiwi bowlers climb one spot each
In the bowling department, there were minor changes in top 10. New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner climbed one spot to take sixth position, going past India's left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav. Santner picked up for wickets in the ODI series and was economical as well.
BlackCaps pacer Matt Henry moved up one spot enter top 10. Henry picked up a match-winning four-fer in the third and final ODI of the series against the Caribbean side. The top spot belongs to Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan who has ha 40-point lead.
Plenty changes awaited
The three-ODI series between India and South Africa will commence on November 30 in Ranchi. It may lead to plenty of changes in the ODI rankings, especially in top 10.
