Harmanpreet Kaur-led Indian women's cricket team defeated Laura Wolvaardt's South Africa women by 6 wickets in the third and final ODI of the series at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, on June 23 (Sunday). The Women in Blue clean-sweep the Proteas women and won the series 3-0. Smriti Mandhana won the Player of the Series award for her consistent performance with bat, she smashed two centuries in the first two ODIs and then a match-winning 90 in the final games.

 

Deepti Sharma helps India restrict South Africa on 215/8

 

Deepti Sharma and Arundhati Reddy took two wickets each and helped India restrict South Africa on 215/8. Laura Wolvaardt was the highest scorer for Proteas side, she scored crucial 61 runs off 57 balls. Indian bowlers were exceptionally well and did not allow the batters to score freely.

Smriti Mandhana missed her third consecutive century

 

Smriti Mandhana played another great knock in the series but missed her century. She scored 90 runs in the third ODI and helped India pick up another win. Apart from her, Harmanpreet Kaur played a great knock as well and scored 42 runs off 48 balls.

 

“Unfortunate to miss out on a 100 today. Those kind of shots (sweep) sometimes come off and you need to keep backing yourself. The bowlers bowled really well and for us it is just about applying ourselves with the bat. We have a series left, Asia Cup and then the World Cup. After today's over I don't I will get to bowl again, tried my hand in the previous game and got lucky, always good to add a different skill and if it comes off then it is the best feeling,” said Smriti Mandhana in the post-match presentation.
