Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli is set to play his 100th Test match against Sri Lanka at Mohali and Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) is planning to host the match in grand manner. PCA secretary RP Singhla, while talking to sports Tak, said it is an honor for them to host this match.
Kohli's memorable match
The first Test match of the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka will see a grand organisation as PCA is expected to welcome Virat in a splendid fashion. It is also understood that PCA will present a memento on the match day to Virat in order to mark his 100th Test match.
It is important to mention that the first Test match will have no fans and will be played behind closed doors. Only essential services and board officials will be present at the ground.
After the completion of the first Test; India and Sri Lanka will take on each other in the second Test match, in Bengaluru. The second Test match of the series will commence on March 12.
Big decisions
Indian Test team, under the leadership of newly-appointed Test skipper Rohit Sharma will be hoping to start the series on a positive note.
Previously, veteran Indian batsmen- Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were dropped from the Indian Test team. Veteran Indian wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha was also not selected for the Indian Test team.
Currently, Indian team under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, are facing Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series. Indian team in the first T20I match of the series, had secured a comfortable 62-run victory against Sri Lanka. The third T20I match of the series is slated to be played on February 26 (Saturday). The third and final match of the series will be played on February 27 (Sunday).
